Site Plan Statement: Online Provision

The Haven is a specialist, non-profit online school operated by Autistic Girls Network (registered charity in England and Wales 1196655, and in Scotland SC054837). All provision is delivered remotely. Learners do not attend a physical site at any point in their placement, and no premises are used for learner attendance. A site plan is therefore not applicable to this provision.

This statement sets out the equivalent information for our online learning environment, covering the areas a site plan would normally evidence: the suitability, safety and safeguarding of the environment in which learning takes place.

The learning environment

All lessons are delivered live and online by qualified, DBS-checked educators, almost all of whom are neurodivergent themselves. Learners join lessons from their own home. Lessons run Monday to Thursday, in small groups or one-to-one according to the commissioned package, with session records and progress observations maintained in our management system.

Because our learners join from home, the “site” for each learner is their home learning environment. We support families to establish a workable learning space and adapt our delivery to each learner’s circumstances, including camera-off and non-speaking participation where a learner needs it.

Safety and safeguarding of the online environment

The safeguarding considerations of a physical site (access, supervision, premises safety) translate in an online school to platform security, session supervision and online safety. Our arrangements include:

• A trained Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy DSL in post, with safeguarding policy and practice aligned to Keeping Children Safe in Education.
• Enhanced DBS checks for all staff, a maintained Single Central Record, and Safer Recruitment trained leadership.
• Safeguarding protocols specific to remote delivery, covering appropriate use of video platforms, supervision and conduct within live lessons, monitoring of communication channels, and clear procedures for concerns arising during online sessions.
• An Online Safety Policy and Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, available on request and reviewed annually.

Health and safety

As no learners or visitors attend a physical site, premises-based health and safety requirements (fire safety plans, evacuation routes, site access arrangements) do not apply to learner provision. Staff work remotely and are supported under our health and safety and staff wellbeing arrangements. Risk assessment for the provision focuses on the online delivery context, including learner wellbeing during remote sessions and escalation routes if a concern arises for a learner at home.

Accessibility

Our provision is designed for neurodivergent learners who have been unable to attend a physical school setting, many of whom have not left their homes for extended periods. The absence of a physical site is not incidental to our model: it is the reason many of our learners are able to access education at all. Accessibility is addressed through flexible pacing, low-demand session openings, camera-off and non-speaking options, and adapted delivery for each learner’s needs.
