Governors at The Haven commit to holding space with discernment, responsibility, and relational intelligence. Our code of conduct reflects the trust placed in us by learners, families, and educators.

As a Governor of The Haven, I will:

Uphold the Vision

● Act in alignment with The Haven’s ethos: neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed, symbolically intelligent, and learner-led.

● Support the co-creation of systems rooted in care, transparency and autonomy.

Act with Integrity

● Prioritise the safety, dignity and wellbeing of all learners.

● Adhere to all safeguarding, data protection, and confidentiality expectations. ● Declare and step aside from conflicts of interest.

Hold Constructive Space

● Offer challenge with compassion; offer encouragement with clarity.

● Participate actively and respectfully in meetings and decision-making processes.

● Stay curious and committed to collective learning — even when discomfort arises.

Model Accountability

  • Review and reflect on governance practices regularly.

  • Follow through on agreed actions and communication timelines.

  • Seek guidance when needed and admit when I don’t know.

Protect the Haven

  • Respect confidentiality across all forums, documents, and relationships.

  • Represent The Haven positively and accurately in any external communications.

  • Be willing to step back if I can no longer serve the role with integrity or clarity.

This code is reviewed annually. It is not a set of rules — it is a relational agreement grounded in responsibility, reciprocity, and care.
