Building Trust. Encouraging Rhythm. Supporting Growth.
At The Haven, we believe that learning happens best when students feel safe, seen, and
supported. Attendance is one of the ways we stay connected but we know that for many
neurodivergent learners, consistency looks different.
This agreement is not a contract. It’s a shared understanding of how we’ll work together to
encourage rhythm, spot early signs of struggle, and keep communication open.
What We’ll Do at The Haven:
-
Provide calm, inclusive, 40-minute live sessions
-
Welcome each learner with kindness and curiosity
-
Track attendance gently with no judgement
-
Check in if sessions are missed or engagement drops
-
Offer flexible options (e.g. recordings, mentoring, phased returns)
-
Hold space for conversations if things get tricky
-
Never exclude learners for non-attendance
-
See the human first, always
What We Ask of Families:
-
Let us know by 8:45am if your child will miss a session (email: attendance@autisticgirlsnetwork.org)
-
Tell us about ongoing barriers to attendance (e.g. anxiety, health, sensory needs)
-
Encourage open conversations with your child about how sessions feel
-
Partner with us if attendance becomes a challenge, we’re on your team
Reasons We Authorise Absence Include:
✔ Mental health, shutdowns or burnout
✔ Illness or sensory overwhelm
✔ Therapy or specialist appointments
✔ Digital access issues
✔ Religious or cultural observance
✔ Family needs or bereavement
(We won’t demand proof unless there are serious safeguarding concerns.)
Let’s Make it Official (Sort Of)
We’ve read this together and understand how attendance works at The Haven. We know it’s
okay to miss a session, and that communication is key.
